Welcome to the Setu Platform, a legal literacy technology platform offered by Setu. The Setu Platform is maintained in association with a designated software service provider. The Setu Platform leverages technology to provide simplified and accessible legal information (“Services”) through virtual assistants (“Setu Chatbot”) to persons from vulnerable communities.

By using our Services, through our website, AI-tools provided by Setu, including the Setu Chatbot or otherwise (collectively, the “Setu Platform”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Use (“Terms”). 2. Purpose of the Setu Platform
The Setu Platform delivers AI-powered legal literacy tools (“Setu Chatbot”) designed to provide simplified and accessible legal information. Information provided by a Setu Chatbot does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such. Any legal guidance provided is for informational purposes only, and users are encouraged to consult a licensed legal professional for specific legal advice.
3. No Attorney-Client Relationship
Your use of the Setu Platform (including a Setu Chatbot) does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Setu, its incubators, its partners, or any third-party legal professionals.

Users are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of any information they provide to the Setu Platform. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information you provide to us, including information provided to a Setu Chatbot. The Setu Platform and its Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Users acknowledge that AI-generated outputs are probabilistic and designed to support decision-making but may contain inaccuracies or biases. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, in no event will Setu, its incubators or partners be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the Setu Platform (including a Setu Chatbot), or any reliance on information provided by a Setu Chatbot.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Setu, its incubators, partners, affiliates, officers, employees, agents, partners, licensors, or service providers shall not be liable for any damages, losses, or liabilities, even if Setu has been advised of the possibility of such damages, arising out of or in connection with:
Under no circumstances will Setu, its incubators, partners, affiliates, officers, employees, agents, partners, licensors, or service providers be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or any other intangible losses, arising from your use of the Platform.
You acknowledge and agree that Setu will not be liable for any decisions, actions, or outcomes resulting from your use of the Platform, including reliance on AI-generated content or any other information or materials accessed via the Setu Platform.
12. Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Setu, its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to:
i. Your access to or use of the Platform or its content, including AI-generated outputs.
ii. Any violation of these Terms (including the Privacy Policy or Community Guidelines) by you, including unauthorised use of intellectual property or misuse of the Platform.
iii. Your reliance on AI-generated outputs, particularly if such reliance results in harm, errors, or unintended consequences.
iv. Any content you upload or submit, including claims of intellectual property infringement, defamation, or violation of privacy rights.
v. Any third-party disputes or claims arising out of your use of the Platform.
13. Termination
Setu reserves the right to terminate or suspend access to the Setu Platform (including a Setu Chatbot) at its sole discretion, without notice, for users who breach these Terms of Use or use the Setu Platform inappropriately in violation of the Community Guidelines outlined in the Annexure of these Terms of Use. Please note that in the event of termination, it is possible that we may be required to comply with any data retention obligations prescribed under applicable laws.
14. Changes to Terms
Setu may modify these Terms and Use at any time, and such modifications will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. Any updates will be communicated through email, in-app notifications, or announcements on our Platform. Continued use of the Setu Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms and Use shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai.
Users acknowledge that the use of AI technologies may be subject to evolving laws and regulations. By using the Platform, users agree to comply with all applicable related legal requirements and ensure their activities align with any emerging regulatory standards.

Annexure
Community Guidelines
To uphold the integrity of our mission, these Community Guidelines (“Guidelines”) govern user interactions with our Platform, ensuring responsible and respectful use of the Platform.
Users are expected to conduct themselves and engage with the Service in a manner that aligns with the values of inclusivity, respect, and constructive collaboration.
1. User Code of Conduct
(a) Users must interact with the Service in a manner that is respectful, professional, and aligned with Setu’s mission to leverage technology to provide simplified and accessible legal information through the Setu Chatbot to persons from vulnerable communities.
(b) Offensive, obscene, abusive, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate language or behaviour is strictly prohibited. This includes interactions intended to provoke, manipulate, or degrade the quality of the Platform.
(c) Users must not exploit the Platform in ways that undermine its mission or violate ethical principles, including but not limited to:
i. Manipulating the Platform to produce harmful, misleading, or inappropriate outputs.
ii. Deliberately misusing the Platform to create false or defamatory content.
iii. Using the Platform to generate material that promotes hate speech, violence, or discrimination.
iv. Developing content that violates any applicable laws or ethical standards.
v. Using the Platform for malicious purposes, such as spreading misinformation or causing harm to individuals or communities.
vi. Falsely representing that outputs generated by the Platform are of human origin when they are not.
(d) Users must not input or transmit content that:
i. Contains harmful, unlawful, defamatory, or otherwise damaging material.
ii. Promotes violence, hate speech, discrimination, or harassment against any individual or group.
iii. Threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, or public order, or causes incitement to the commission of any cognisable offence, or prevents investigation of any offence, or is insulting other nation.
iv. Infringes upon the privacy or intellectual property rights of others.
v. Includes malware, viruses, or other harmful code intended to disrupt or damage the Platform.
2. Use of Output by Users
(a) Outputs should be used to inform constructive actions or decisions that align with the Platform’s mission provide simplified and accessible legal information through the Setu Chatbot to persons from vulnerable communities.
(b) Users must not use outputs for illegal, unethical, or harmful purposes, such as:
i. Misrepresenting outputs as definitive or infallible, particularly in areas such as healthcare, policy-making, or financial or legal decisions.
ii. Using outputs to justify actions that may cause harm to individuals, communities, or ecosystems.
iii. Disseminating outputs in ways that mislead others or distort their original context.
(c) Users should apply critical judgment and discretion when using outputs, acknowledging the inherent limitations of AI-generated insights. Outputs are intended as tools to support decision-making and must not replace human expertise or professional advice.
(d) When sharing outputs publicly or within teams, users must:
i. Provide appropriate context to avoid misinterpretation.
ii. Attribute the insights to the Platform while noting its role as a supportive resource rather than a definitive authority.
3. Inclusivity and Accessibility
(a) Outputs and insights generated by the Platform should be applied in ways that bridge gaps in access to resources, information, and opportunities for marginalised or underserved populations.
(b) Users are encouraged to contribute to the Platform’s mission by sharing ideas, feedback, and solutions that reflect a commitment to social justice, equity, and human dignity.
4. Monitoring and Compliance
(a) Setu reserves the right to monitor user interactions with the Platform to ensure adherence to these Guidelines. Any data collected during monitoring will be handled in compliance with Setu’s privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
(b) Users who violate these Guidelines may face corrective actions, including temporary or permanent suspension of access to the Platform.
(c) Severe or repeated violations may result in Setu pursuing additional legal or remedial actions to protect the integrity of the Platform and its mission.
(d) Users who identify violations of these Guidelines are encouraged to report them promptly to Setu at contact@setu.law. Details of such reports will be kept confidential unless disclosure is required by law or to comply with requests from authorities.
5. Amendments and Updates
(a) Setu is committed to continuously improving the Platform and its ethical standards. These Guidelines will be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect best practices, legal developments, and user feedback.
